How Does Our Guardian Program Work?
At Cherish A Bulls, we are committed to providing exceptional care and lifelong wellbeing for every dog in our program. Our Guardian Program allows select families to partner with us by welcoming one of our breeding-quality females into their home as a cherished family companion.
Under this program, your guardian dog will live with you full-time, enjoying the same love, comfort, and everyday life as any family pet. When she is ready to be bred, she will temporarily return to us for breeding and again when it is time to whelp her puppies. She will stay with us until her litter is weaned, usually around 8 weeks of age, then return home to you.
A written contract is provided to ensure full transparency, outlining responsibilities, expectations, and the number of litters agreed upon. Our goal is to create a positive, respectful partnership where our guardian dogs thrive emotionally, physically, and socially.
Guardian Requirements
To ensure the best possible environment for our guardian dogs, families must meet the following criteria:
Reside in Alberta and within approximately 1 hour of Edmonton
(to allow for seamless travel during breeding, vet visits, and whelping)
Provide a safe, stable, and loving home environment
Commit to routine care, including
food, grooming, regular veterinary checkups, vaccinations, and pet insurance
Maintain communication with Cherish A Bulls and be available for scheduled visits as needed
Have reliable transportation and the ability to bring the dog to us when required
Agree to keep the dog intact (not spayed) throughout her time in the program
All breeding-related expenses are covered by Cherish A Bulls.
Is There a Cost Involved?
Our guardian program is designed to be accessible and mutually beneficial. While there is a small upfront fee to join the program, it is significantly reduced compared to the cost of purchasing a full-price puppy. This fee is simply to secure commitment and responsibility from the guardian home.
